The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle softball team saw its 2003 season come to a close Friday morning at the NCAA Regionals in Austin, Texas. Arizona State, ranked 15th nationally, pounded out 14 hits to hand Tech a 6-0 defeat. Despite the early exit from the NCAA, the Golden Eagles still finished off a successful season at 41-16, which is the highest winning percentage (.719) for any Golden Eagle team in the 18-year history of the program. In the game, Tech managed four hits - one each from seniors Jadryen Layne and Amy Goad and a hit from sophomore Kacy Bennett.
