Mrs. Estelle Garrett

Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Garrett, 86, of Pulaski, TN and formally of Monterey, TN will be conducted Friday morning, June 13, 2003 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Horner Funeral Home with Dr. Doug Plumlee and Rev. Dewitt Sampley officiating. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Garrett died on Tuesday afternoon June 10, 2003 at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski.

Mrs. Garrett was born September 30, 1916, in Putnam County, TN. to the late Haskell (Bud) and Loy Ella Walker Tayes.

Mrs. Garrett was a life-long resident of Monterey until 1990 when she moved to Pulaski. While in Monterey she was an active member of Monterey First Baptist Church and she and her late husband were the retired owners/operators of Garrett’s Garage and Service Station.

In Pulaski, Mrs. Garrett was a member of Pulaski First Baptist Church, a volunteer at Hillside Hospital, and a member of FCE club.

Mrs. Garrett was an antique dealer for a number of years and had a great love for antiques, flowers, and family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Claudy Regnal “Rag” Garrett, brother:Clarence Tayes Sr., and stepmother: Lillie Mae Tayes.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Harold and Margaret Garrett of Cookeville, her daughter and son-in-law: Joyce and Paul Walker of Pulaski, five grandchildren: Jim Garrett of Apison, TN, Gene Garrett of Maryville, TN, Melissa Marcum of Cookeville, Jeff Walker of Franklin, TN, and Connie Liggett of Pulaski, nine great-grandchildren: Ryan Liggett, Tyler, Laura Beth, Joshua, and Kristina Garrett, McCartney an Carly Williams, Adam and Conner Walker, two sisters: Mrs, Eva Scott of Monterey and Mrs. Clara Jackson of Kingsburg, CA.

Mrs. Garrett’s family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Garrett’’s family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm and Friday morning from 10 am until time of services at Horner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garrett’s family suggest memorial contributions be made to Pulaski First Baptist Building Fund or Monterey First Baptist Church Building Fund and you may do this by contacting the funeral home.
