Engineered Performance for Demanding Environments
Crossville’s innovation has always been grounded in real-world performance—especially in environments where materials are pushed to their limits. In commercial kitchens, healthcare settings, and other demanding environments, flooring must handle moisture, grease, constant cleaning, and heavy use without compromise.
Cross-Colors Mingles™ porcelain tile with Cross-Tread® was specifically engineered to address the toughest traction challenges in environments such as commercial kitchens, school cafeterias, healthcare settings, and hotel service areas. Developed in a joint effort between Crossville and restaurant industry experts, Cross-Tread tiles are an excellent alternative to quarry tile for back-of-house flooring and similar demanding conditions. Cross-Tread’s integrated surface pattern offers enhanced traction in wet and greasy conditions. The tiles are resistant to microbial growth, easy to clean, and will withstand harsh cleaners.
The same performance characteristics also make porcelain tiles with Cross-Tread a strong solution for exterior walking surfaces where safety and durability are critical. Cross-Tread delivers a balance of performance and visual interest across a wide range of demanding applications.

Cross-Colors Mingles with our proprietary Cross-Slate® finish offers a different approach to traction-focused performance, combining the visual character of natural slate with the strength and consistency of through-body porcelain. This finish is designed for high-traffic interior and exterior walking surfaces where enhanced traction and long-term durability are required, while introducing a more natural, textured aesthetic to performance-driven spaces.
Performance for Exterior and Wet Environments
Exterior applications bring a different set of demands, including constant exposure to moisture, weather, and temperature fluctuations, along with the need for confident footing in wet conditions. Crossville’s exterior finish porcelain tiles are engineered for these environments to deliver enhanced traction and long-term durability without sacrificing design.

From commercial and residential walkways to patios and pool surrounds, these surfaces are built to maintain performance and appearance under continuous exposure to the elements. The same characteristics also make them well-suited for interior wet areas, where moisture management and reliable footing are critical.
Surface as Experience: Tactile Innovation
As design expectations have evolved, so has the role of porcelain tile. Beyond performance, surfaces are now expected to contribute to comfort, atmosphere, and overall experience.
Crossville’s FeatherSoft™ technology reflects that shift. Developed through extensive research and testing across material composition and glaze application, FeatherSoft creates a remarkably soft, touchable surface reminiscent of finely woven cashmere, an unexpected quality in porcelain tile that still maintains strong technical performance.
The result is a surface that invites touch, supporting spaces where comfort and sensory experience matter just as much as durability.

Pushing Realism Further With Digital Precision
Advancements in digital manufacturing have redefined what tile can represent visually—but Crossville has taken that further by aligning what you see with what you feel.
Visual Touch™ is a revolutionary new manufacturing process that synchronizes surface texture with graphic design, creating porcelain materials with hyper-realistic outcomes and superior technical and aesthetic qualities. Visual Touch™ aligns surface texture with the graphic, so what you see is consistent with what you feel, producing surfaces that read as authentic from every angle.
This level of textural authenticity allows designers to achieve highly realistic aesthetics while maintaining the durability and consistency of porcelain.

Built-In Protection and Easier Maintenance
Our Cross-Sheen® technology brings innovation to long-term surface care. Integrated directly into the porcelain tile surface during manufacturing, this advanced finish helps protect against scuffs, stains, and most graffiti while supporting easier cleaning with mild cleaners. Unlike temporary coatings that can wear, scratch, or peel, Cross-Sheen is built into the surface for durable, consistent performance on walls and floors, from residential kitchens and bathrooms to commercial corridors and public spaces.

Cross-Sheen is the smart choice for tile surfaces that stand the test of time while maintaining an effortlessly clean look. Shown: Argent 2.0 porcelain floor and wall tile.
Innovation in How Tile is Made
Carbon Reduction
Crossville’s commitment to innovation extends beyond advanced finishes and engineered performance into the porcelain manufacturing processes themselves. Our sustainability initiatives represent a different kind of innovation—less visible, but increasingly important to how materials are evaluated and specified.
We are actively exploring all ways to reduce carbon emissions from the manufacture of our porcelain tile products by:
- Maximizing efficiencies to reduce natural gas consumption
- Optimizing formulations and formats to lower energy impacts
- Partnering with landlords to implement LED action-controlled lighting
- Leveraging full-truckload shipments to reduce fuel waste
- Pursuing equipment with lower energy requirements
Carbon Neutral Porcelain Tile
Our carbon-neutral product journey began with Civilization™ and Native Metal™, two early porcelain tile collections that set the foundation for what would become our Carbon Neutral Series. Since then, Beljn™, Argent 2.0™, Argent 2.5™, and now Portland Cliff™ and Cleve™ porcelain tile collections have continued to build on that progress.
Each new carbon-neutral collection represents a broader commitment to sustainable innovation and a more responsible approach to how porcelain tile is made.
Cleve is our latest carbon-neutral porcelain tile collection.
Waste Management
Finding innovative ways to manage waste is at the heart of Crossville’s sustainability efforts. Our recycling programs allow unfired and fired materials to be reincorporated into first-grade porcelain tile products, while water recirculation processes help minimize resource consumption.
A Continuous Commitment to Innovation
After 40 years, Crossville’s approach remains focused and consistent: solve real challenges, refine the surface experience, and improve how porcelain tile is made.
Crossville’s technologies, from engineered traction to tactile finishes and highly realistic surface detail, work together to create porcelain tile that performs at a high level while supporting the expectations of modern design and construction.
