Crossville Tile Collections Align With Paris Design Fair Trends

February 28, 2023

The Maison & Objet design and lifestyle fair for interior design is a bi-annual event held in Paris, France, and is considered one of the three most important European design events. Objet and Maison are the sections of the show, with the Objet section exhibiting objects and decorative accessories and Maison showcasing decoration and interior home solutions.

The inspiration theme for the first Maison & Objet fair of 2023 was Take Care. Maison & Objet describes the theme,

“Taking care…of yourself, of your mental and physical health, of others, of the planet, of one’s expert skill. This notion of “care”, which is on the rise, reflects this absolute need and sees examples flourishing in society.”

The Take Care theme was not only a reminder to slow down and take care of ourselves and others but was also a directive to be mindful and deliberate in considering the future of our planet. Let’s look at the significant design trends that emerged from the fair and explore Crossville tile collections that align with the trends.

More Color & Exuberance

The fair revealed the return of colorful, striking, and authentic designs. Monochromatic and minimalist designs are becoming a thing of the past, with colorful interiors burgeoning in 2023 as we yearn for more personality in our surroundings.

Check out our Swatches, Glass Blox, Argent, Cursive, and Color Blox 2.0 for injecting more color and personality into both commercial and residential interior designs.

Bold Contrast & Geometrics

Following the resurgence of the Memphis movement, bold contrast and geometric patterns inspired by the 70s and 80s are on the rise. People want to add more playful and creative elements in interiors, but this does not mean their ignoring traditional design – instead, it means reinterpreting old things in a new, fun way.

Cursive wall tile, Groove Glass. Glass Blox, Shades 2.0 , and Retro Active 2.0 are the perfect tile collections for creating bold contrasts and geometric patterns.

Rich, Natural Materials

In the context of “slow living” and environmental concerns, wooden, marble, travertine, and other rich natural materials will be prominent in interior design this year. Crossville offers various beautiful and sustainable porcelain tile products that mimic their natural counterparts. Porcelain tiles are also inherently natural because they are basically comprised of clay and water. However, these porcelain tile lookalikes are not only stunning but are also more durable and easier to maintain.

Our wood-look Nest, travertine-look Stone Fiction, limestone-inspired Portugal, and elegant marble-look Stones at Large are just a few porcelain examples of our “natural materials” doppelgängers.

Bringing The Outdoors Inside & Vice Versa

Versatile design elements and furnishings that work equally well inside & outside played a part in the environmental focus at Maison & Objet. However, the idea of indoor-outdoor pieces can go beyond furnishings and decor. We offer three porcelain floor and wall tile collections that have matching outdoor finish options so designers can create cohesive designs that flow beautifully from indoors to out. The exterior tiles also provide the extra slip resistance required for outdoor flooring.

Our Owen Stone, Portugal, and Stone Fiction porcelain exterior tiles offer the performance that outdoor spaces require without sacrificing style.
